Students
Bridgerland Literacy is designed to help adults who struggle with reading and writing. By improving literacy skills, adults can function better in society and enrich their personal lives.
One on One Tutoring
One on one tutoring is free for community members. Each student is matched with a trained tutor volunteer. They generally meet for one hour, two times a week. Materials are provided for the student and tutor use at no cost. We have curriculum to take our students up to an eighth grade reading level.
Small Class Learning
Bridgerland Literacy is excited to begin offering classes in the community. We currently offer a writing class designed to improve structure and flow in writing. This can be beneficial for school, resumes and any other application. The class lasts for 6 sessions (3 weeks) and begins September 21, 2020. It will be held from 6-7 pm at Utah State University. Please email alice.shepherd@usu.edu for more information or to register for the class.
We also offer a GED Class to help those who are seeking a High School certificate. This class is in person (or on Zoom) with an instructor and is designed to help those who struggle with online learning and have more questions than an online class can answer. See the GED Courses Section for more information.
Adults must be conversational in English to enter our program. Those who need assistance with beginning English are referred to The English Language Center. Once they have completed the program at the English Language Center and have learned conversational English, we can help them continue to progress in their grammar and writing skills.
Our office is located in the West Campus of Bridgerland Technical College (BTech).
